What could have been. Women’s wrestling has come an incredibly long way in WWE over the last few years, shifting from little more than a sideshow to one of the bigger featured points in all of the company. There has even been an all women’s wrestling pay per view with Evolution, which has yet to be brought back. As it turns out, there were plans for such a show and now we know what one of the featured matches was going to be.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Is Planning To Focus On Something New During Premium Live Events
Former WWE Superstar Ronda Rousey appeared on Ring The Belle and revealed that she had been offered a major match at a second Evolution event. Following her participation in a triple threat match along with Charlotte and Becky Lynch in the main event of WrestleMania 35, Rousey was offered a singles match against Lynch at Evolution II, which would have taken place six weeks after WrestleMania 35. Rousey declined and left the company, saying she had promised her family that she was done. Rousey never faced Lynch one on one and Evolution II, though rumored, has never taken place.
It could have been big. Check out Rousey and Lynch, plus Evolution:
Opinion: Rousey vs. Lynch is that one match which felt like it could have been huge if given the chance to actually happen. Unfortunately we never got there and it is hard to believe that it will happen in the future. At the same time, I could absolutely believe that we could see another Evolution at some point, as the women’s division has grown quite a bit in the years since the show took place.
How would the match have gone? What should take place at another Evolution event? Let us know in the comments below.
