What could have been. We are at WrestleMania season and that means it is time for the big culmination of a bunch of stories. Some of these things have been going on for months at a time if not longer and those stories have to be set up long in advance. Now we know that what we are going to be seeing was not the original plan, as an injury caused things to be reset.

WrestleMania 40 will feature two matches involving Damage CTRL. On WrestleMania Saturday, Naomi/Bianca Belair/Jade Cargill defeated Damage CTRL in a six woman tag match. On WrestleMania Sunday, Bayley will challenge Iyo Sky for the WWE Women’s Title. According to Fightful by way of Cagesideseats.com, the original plans called for Bayley to join forces with Charlotte to fight off Damage CTRL but Charlotte suffered a knee injury, resulting in the changes being made.

Opinion: This makes sense as the Damage CTRL story has been the biggest in the SmackDown women’s division for a good while now and Charlotte would fit in there nicely. What we are getting works rather well though and we should be in for a heck of a match on Sunday night. It’s a good sign that WWE seems to know how to adjust their big stories these days, which is what they had to do again here.
