Well that’s something. Retribution made their debut back in August on Monday Night Raw and it really has not gone well. After several weeks of not exactly getting anywhere, the team suddenly jumped forward and suddenly had identifiable members with individual names, but then things have gone downhill from there. The team has already lost a member and now we know why.

One of the interesting things about Retribution was how many members they had. While they have a lot of people running around, occasionally upwards of ten or more, there is a core group who will be focused on and serve as the main team. NXT fans can identify the members without much trouble, though one of the names won’t be around again and for a specific reason.

Mercedes Martinez was one of the wrestlers to appear as part of Retribution but has since left the team with no explanation given. According to Fightful Select, Martinez requested to not be part of the team and has been removed as a result. There is no word on why Martinez made the request or if she is in any trouble with WWE as a result. Martinez has not appearance since, either in WWE or in NXT.

It’s a loss. Check out the team and Martinez on her own:

Opinion: I’m not sure what to think of this but it probably isn’t the best sign for Martinez’s future. This is one of the bigger opportunities of her career and she has let it go. That being said, Retribution is not exactly seeming like the most successful endeavor so it might not be the worst move. I have no idea why Martinez wanted out of the angle but if it makes sense to her, then good enough.

What do you think of Martinez? What is next for Retribution? Let us know in the comments below.
