This led to a fan backlash against the idea, with WWE changing the match back to Reigns vs. Rhodes with the Rock turning heel to join forces with Reigns.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the Rock pitched the heel turn following the backlash, saying he was happy to be a heel in the story. Some people involved were also said to believe that the turn partially took place to avoid Rock being booed as a babyface following some of his recent business ventures not panning out well. Rock is also said to have pitched the idea of himself and Reigns facing Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night One of WrestleMania 40, though that match has yet to be announced and it is not clear if it will take place.

Opinion: The turn does make sense and is probably the best idea, as it is hard to fathom WWE going through with Rock vs. Reigns given the backlash when Rhodes was replaced. The execution will be what matters as always, but they are doing well ont hew ay there.
