They do have limits. With less than a week to go before Summerslam, most of the card is already set. That includes probably the biggest match on the card, as WWE Champion Drew McIntyre defends against Randy Orton. This comes after Orton has become one of the top names in WWE all over again, as tends to be his case. Part of this involved Punting Ric Flair, but it turns out there was more to it than that.
Last week’s Monday Night Raw saw Orton take his evil to another level by kicking his mentor’s head off to end the show. This came after Flair more or less begged him to not do it and said he just wanted to celebrate with Orton. Flair’s emotional plea wasn’t enough to sway Orton’s actions, and it turns out that his explanation was even more detailed than we saw.
According to Fightful.com, Orton’s promo on Flair originally included significantly more material than the version that made air. The issue was the length of the promo and not the quality or subject of what Orton said. Orton ended the promo by hitting Flair low and Punting him in the head, though the lights flickered when Orton’s boot was about to connect with Flair’s head.
It was the short form. Check out the segment that we saw:
Opinion: That’s probably a good thing as you don’t want the talking to go on so long that it takes away from the big impact at the ending. Orton’s promo worked out perfectly well and Flair’s response was good too. They trimmed it down to a length that worked out well for everyone and I’m glad they didn’t go too far. It was a case where the action was what mattered and thankfully they didn’t change it too much.
