What could have been. Over the weekend, WWE presented its annual Royal Rumble event, which featured the show’s usual two namesake matches. Those matches both involved thirty participants each, including some surprise entrants. That can make for some rather interesting moments, but now we have an idea of who was supposed to be in the match in the first place.

The Women’s Royal Rumble feature the surprise return of Alexa Bliss, who was making her first appearance since the 2023 Royal Rumble. Bliss ha reportedly been in a contract dispute with WWE, though commentary referenced it during the match, suggesting the story was faked. According to Fightful Select by way of Cagesideseats.com, Shotzi was originally penciled in for the spot as recently as Friday’s rehearsal.
Bliss is quite good. Check out what she has done:

Opinion: This is the kind of interesting detail that shakes things up and makes them that much more fun. The Royal Rumble is built around the idea of wondering who is going to be on the other side of the curtain when the buzzer goes off and in this case, Bliss was a surprise. Shotzi could have been a nice moment in her own right, but the surprise factor made it that much better.
