They had a plan. Wrestling is quite the complicated thing to pull off as it has all kinds of aspects to work out. This includes making everything safe while making it look impactful and intriguing. However, there are times when something is going to go wrong and there is little way to avoid it. That was the situation in a recent high profile match and now we know some more about it.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: How Long? Important Details On Becky Lynch’s Likely Hiatus From WWE

Last weekend, WWE held the finals of the King Of The Ring tournament at King And Queen Of The Ring. The match saw Gunther defeat Randy Orton with a rollup, though Orton’s shoulder was clearly off the mat. WWE CCO Triple H acknowledged the situation and suggested that the two would have a rematch. According to Fightful Select by way of Cagesideseats.com, the shoulder being off the mat was unintentional and the pinfall was supposed to be clean.

This was a big one. Check out the match and the fallout:

Opinion: That isn’t a huge surprise as the result felt more like a mistake rather than something intentionally done. It is the kind of thing that happens every so often and unfortunately it did not look great. WWE acknowledging what happened helps things a bit, as that is quite the major issue to leave hanging. Odds are we’ll see a rematch and Gunther can get his big win clean, though you never know how it might play out.
