They timed it. There are a variety of stories taking place in WWE at the moment and some of them are far more prominent than others. As a result, some of them get more attention and it is clear when WWE is presenting a story in a big way. At the same time, there are some reasons which will not come out until later. That is the case again, as we now know why WWE went in a certain direction.

Earlier this month, WWE presented its annual Crown Jewel event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The show opened with a six man tag between Roman Reigns/the Usos and the Bloodline while Cody Rhodes defeated Gunther to win the inaugural men’s Crown Jewel Title in the show’s main event. According to Sean Ross Sapp in a Fightful Select Q&A by way of Ringsidenews.com, Rhodes vs. Gunther headlined the show for the sake of putting the focus on the title. This was said to be important for the company’s business relationships.

Opinion: This is something that makes sense and it didn’t make a big difference for those watching at home. It was a little surprising to see the Bloodline opening the show but it seems that WWE had a good reason to go in that direction. The show was good enough while it lasted and it was nice to see the matches getting their own attention, which is rather important for everyone involved.
