That sounds like a big relief. There are very few wrestlers who can be described as the face of WWE. Over the years you can see a few of them come up through the ranks, but it is very rare to have someone who is the focal point of the entire company. Those wrestlers are going to be among the biggest names WWE has ever seen, and now WWE might have some good news about one of them.
Over the weekend, Roman Reigns spoke at the end of a WWE live event in Trenton, New Jersey, saying that he was moving into a new phase and did not know when he would be back in front of these fans. What Reigns meant was not clear, but according to Fightful Select, there is nothing to suggest that Reigns is leaving WWE or even taking time off. The speculation is that Reigns is expected to wrestle fewer non-televised events. There is also no word on him taking time off for any Hollywood commitments, though that is a possibility in the future.
Opinion: Reigns’ comments were interesting, as they were vague enough that they could mean almost anything. I’m curious to see what he does, but WWE is likely to do just about anything they can to keep him happy and around, as Reigns has been the focal point of WWE for such a long time now. Reigns leaving would be nothing short of a disaster for WWE and they have to do what they can to prevent that from happening for a long time to come.
What do you think of Reigns? Who could take his place? Let us know in the comments below.
