Maybe the new direction isn’t working. Things are still in a rapid state of change around Impact Wrestling with Pentagon Jr.’s World Title reign still in its early stages. The new champ only won the title a few weeks back and I’m not sure how familiar fans are with him so far. That can change over time, but it doesn’t mean that the fans are ready to watch the new version of the show just yet. Were they interested this week?

Here’s the best they had.

According to 411mania.com, this week’s episode of Impact Wrestling drew a .06 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 295,000 viewers. These numbers are down 14% and 1% respectively from last week’s .07 demographic rating and 299,000 viewers. Both are the lowest since April 5, which had a .06 demographic rating and 294,000 viewers. This week’s show was headlined by Pentagon Jr. defending the World Title against Eli Drake in a Feast or Fired cash-in match.

Opinion: While the numbers aren’t down, I’d think a big problem is not knowing enough about Pentagon. He’s a guy in a mask who wears black, has a brother named Fenix, and knows how to hurt your arm. Other than that, we know he’s wrestled for Lucha Underground. Now here’s the thing: if an Impact Wrestling fan doesn’t watch Lucha Underground, that last detail means nothing and they have very little knowledge of Pentagon Jr. in general. He’s the World Champion and several fans can give you little more than his name and a general description. Fix that and see how the numbers do.
