There’s your other big one. We are less than a month away from Summerslam and the top of the card is starting to come together. The show is going to be one of the biggest shows of the year, if not the biggest of them all. As a result, WWE is going to want to load the card up like no other. They took another big step towards doing just that this week on Monday Night Raw.

During this week’s Monday Night Raw, WWE Champion Bobby Lashley accepted Goldberg’s challenge for a title match at Summerslam. Lashley had ignored the challenge in previous weeks and did so again this week. After Goldberg left the ring, Lashley’s manager MVP yelled at Goldberg’s son. As a result, Goldberg speared MVP, which caused Lashley to accept the challenge.

This will be Goldberg’s second shot at the title this year, as well as his second match of the year, as he unsuccessfully challenged Drew McIntyre for the title at the Royal Rumble. Goldberg is a four time World Champion, including three reigns in WWE. His most recent title reign came in 2020, ending with a loss to Braun Strowman at WrestleMania 36. Goldberg currently appears on a legends contract, which calls for two matches a year.

It took some time to get here. Check out how the match was made:

Opinion: This is hardly a surprise as you could all but guarantee the match was taking place the second Goldberg returned. That might not be the best thing in the world, but at least the match is now set as we head into Las Vegas later this month. Goldberg might not be everyone’s favorite challenger but he is going to get a reaction and attention, which is why he is in this spot.
