Everything that has a beginning must have an end. Stables are one of the better ways to get a lot of people on television at the same time. It’s a pretty simple idea really: take a bunch of people, get them together under some common cause and go from there. If you find the right combination, you could be in for something special. That has been the case for a long time now, but one of the better groups in recent history might be done.
Three and a half years ago, the Undisputed Era formed in NXT. What started off as a cool idea turned into one of the biggest things NXT has ever seen, with the team winning everything there was to win in the promotion and holding a lot of titles for a very long time. It was the kind of dominance that you do not see in wrestling these days, but all good things must come to an end.
And then this happened. Check out how Takeover ended:
This weekend’s NXT Takeover: Vengeance Day ended with Finn Balor successfully defending the NXT Title against Pete Dunne. After the match was over, Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch ran in to attack Balor but the Undisputed Era came in for the save. Kyle O’Reilly helped Balor up but Adam Cole attacked both Balor and O’Reilly, leaving on Roderick Strong untouched. Strong looked between Cole and O’Reilly and Balor to end the show.
Opinion: This is something that had to happen eventually, even though there are going to be some people who are unhappy with the situation. The problem is that the Undisputed Era has nothing left to do and at some point they are going to have to move on to something else. The team has been around for about three and a half years now and it is time to move on. Now we get to see where things are going, and that’s not the worst thing.
