It gives them something to do. AEW has a lot of talent on its roster and that is hardly a bad thing. With so many fresh wrestlers as well as established veterans getting a chance to shine on the bigger stage, things are already starting to look up. With everything going as well as it has, it is easy to forget just how young of a company that they are. They only crowned inaugural Tag Team Champions last week and their Women’s Champion last month. That gives them three titles, but there is still room for another.
According to Sportskeepda.com, during the conference call for Saturday’s Full Gear pay per view, Cody was asked about the possibility of introducing a midcard title into AEW. Without specifically saying yes or no, Cody heavily implied that such a thing could be coming to the company in the future. Cody did not explain how such a title would be added to the company or who would be in contention to crown a title. There was not a name given to a potential championship or any further details either.

Maybe one of these people could be the first champion:

Opinion: I’m not sure how necessary something like this is, but at the same time it could be something that helps AEW. They have the talent depth to do something like this, though there does come a point where they can only put so many things onto their show before it is reaching overload. That would seem to be the case with only three hours of television a week, though with so many people on the roster nowhere near the World Title level, another title for them to pursue would be a good idea.
