He's In: WWE Announces Legendary Non-Wrestler For Hall Of Fame Class Of 2024

The greatest. There have been all kinds of wrestlers throughout WWE’s history and some of them are among the best to ever set foot in a ring. WWE attempts to honor those wrestlers through their Hall Of Fame, with inductions taking place every year. The company will also occasionally induct people who did not spend too much time in a wrestling ring. That is what they are doing this year, but with a twist.

WWE has announced that Muhammad Ali will be inducted into the 2024 WWE Hall Of Fame Class. While Ali is mostly known for his career in boxing, he did dabble in wrestling, including various appearances with WWE over the years. His highest profile wrestling appearance came as the guest referee for the main event of the inaugural WrestleMania. There was no mention of Ali being inducted as part of the Celebrity Wing of the Hall Of Fame. Ali is the fourth member of the class announced thus far.

Opinion: This makes sense for WWE as they like to put in people who might not have been active wrestlers on occasion. Ali definitely had a connection to wrestling and it is cool to see him getting another form of recognition. It might be a bit of a stretch to put him into a wrestling Hall Of Fame, but Ali was inspired by Gorgeous George in the first place, so it certainly ties in.
