He’s a hit. There have been all kinds of wrestlers throughout WWE’s history but occasionally someone does not exactly pan out. This might have nothing to do with their own talents, but rather WWE not being able to figure out a way to use them. Occasionally you will see someone being let go from the company and finding success elsewhere, which seems to be the case again.

Mustafa Ali was released from his WWE contract on September 21, 2023, despite being used more frequently in NXT. Since then, Ali has announced a tour of various independent promotions and has already wrestled twice this year. According to Fightful Select, Ali being announced for events has resulted in the highest impact on ticket sales for a released WWE wrestler “in years”. Ali is currently scheduled to face Hiromu Takahashi in April.

You might remember him. Check out Ali in action:

Opinion: This is great to hear, as Ali is someone who felt like he could have been a big star if he was given the chance. For one reason or another, WWE never gave him a real shot and as a result, nothing really came of his time in WWE. It doesn’t seem to be about Ali’s talent, which he has shown many times before, but rather the presentation. Hopefully this kind of run continues and Ali gets a chance on the big stage, because he is rather good.
