That’s a new one. Titles are some of the most important things in all of wrestling as they serve a simple purpose. People understand that wrestlers holding shiny belts matter more than most anyone else on the roster, which makes it easier to focus on those stars. It can mean a lot when a wrestler wins a championship, especially for the first time. That was the case this weekend in a big way.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: OUCH: Major WWE Name Out Of Action For Nine Months Following Horrible Knee Injury

Over the weekend at Ring Of Honor Final Battle 2023, Kyle Fletcher won the vacant Television Title. The win came in the finals of the Survival of the Fittest Tournament, as Fletcher defeated Komander, Lee Moriarty, Bryan Keith, Dalton Castle and Lee Johnson to win the title. The championship was vacated earlier this year when former champion Samoa Joe relinquished it to go after the AEW World Title.

Opinion: This is a title change that had to happen as you don’t want a title to be vacant any longer than it needs to be. What matters is getting the title on someone who can do something with it and Fletcher offers a different take on the title than Samoa Joe did. Fletcher is young and needs to prove himself, which he certainly can do with his first major singles title in hand.
