They have a plan for him. There are all kinds of wrestlers on the AEW roster and it can make a big difference to have one of them pop up after a lengthy absence. Unfortunately some of those absences cannot be controlled, often due to dealing with an injury. That is the case with an AEW star at the moment, but the company has something planned for him when he is back.

Kyle O’Reilly has not wrestled since June 2022 and underwent neck fusion surgery in September. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, O’Reilly is expected to be paired with Roderick Strong and Adam Cole when he returns from injury. There is currently no word on when O’Reilly is expected to return from his injury, though Tony Khan and Cole have said that his recovery is doing well.

Opinion: The future pairing might not be the most surprising and that isn’t a bad idea. The former Undisputed Era had all kind of success in NXT and it would make sense to put them back together in AEW. If nothing else, the history is already there and there is no reason to not capitalize on what is right there. It should make for a great moment when he returns as well, as it has been a long time away.
