It has been awhile. There are certain gimmick matches that become signatures in wrestling companies and that can make for some great moments when the matches take place. That is certainly the case for WWE, which has been around for a very long time now and built up quite a few traditional matches of its own. One of those was on display again quite a few times this weekend and then again later.
This week’s Monday Night Raw featured a Hell In A Cell match with WWE Champion Bobby Lashley defeating Xavier Woods in a non-title match. The match was not advertised in advance and came the night after the Hell In A Cell pay per view event, which featured two matches inside Hell In A Cell. Last week’s SmackDown also featured a match inside Hell In A Cell as Universal Champion Roman Reigns retained against Rey Mysterio. Lashley vs. Woods marked the first Hell In A Cell match on Monday Night Raw since August 24, 1998.
It was a busy weekend for the Cell. Check out the four matches taking place inside it over the weekend:
Opinion: I’m not sure how smart it is to have a fourth Cell match in four days, but at the same time, it would not surprise me if this was a match ordered by the USA Network. I can imagine them being rather upset at the idea of FOX getting a Cell match of their own, though it does not exactly make the most sense to have the match take place with absolutely no build whatsoever.
What did you think of the match? Did WWE have too many of them in the last few days? Let us know in the comments below.
