The star power remains. There are very few things that have been proven to be draws in professional wrestling but big names tend to work as well as anything else. Simply put, if you have a wrestling show with top stars, fans are going to watch almost no matter what they are doing. That was a focal point of a recent show and it will be the case again this week.

Back in 1998, former World Heavyweight Champion Mike Tyson helped kick start the Attitude Era in a legendary segment with Steve Austin. The two got into a shoving match which ruined Vince McMahon’s planned announcement and set the company on fire. It was off to the races after that and fans still remember how big of a deal Tyson was for wrestling. That was on display Saturday and it will be again soon after that.

AEW has announced that Tyson will be live on the May 27 edition of Dynamite. There is no word yet on what Tyson will be doing on the show. This will come less than a week after Tyson appeared at Double Or Nothing 2020, where he chased off Jake Roberts to prevent interference and then presented Cody with the first ever TNT Title. Tyson did not get physical at the show.

It was a big night. Check out all the fallout:

Opinion: This is something that makes sense, as the fans are going to respond to a sports celebrity like Tyson more than a lot of other people. I could see Tyson being a tag partner or even an enforcer, which isn’t the worst use for him. Or just have him knock some midcard level villain out with a single punch. This isn’t a hard path to find, as long as AEW doesn’t overdo it.
