He’s in. There are all kinds of people who make a wrestling show work besides the wrestlers themselves. This includes a group of people who work for the promotion and help put the matches together. They are often former wrestlers themselves and use their experience and intelligence to make matches even better. Now a long established veteran will be doing that as well.

According to PWInsider.com, former WWE star and independent wrestling mainstay Chris Hero has been hired as a full time producer for AEW. Hero was brought in for a tryout last month and has reportedly received “high marks” for his work so far. There is no word on which matches or segments he has produced and no indication he will move into an on-screen role at the moment.

Opinion: Hero is exactly the kind of person who should be brought in for this role. He knows wrestling, is revered, and has been around almost everywhere in the world to learn different styles. Let him impart some of that wisdom on the current generation and see just how far it can go. AEW needs someone to try and mix stuff up a bit while also structuring the matches better, and Hero could be great in that role.
