Maybe they were overbooked? The WWE has one of the most crowded calendars in the history of professional wrestling with two touring brands and enough wrestlers to fill in more if they tried. Then there is television, which has gotten even more complicated with the advent of the Wild Card Rule, where the brands can interact with each other. It turns out that it can make things even more of a mess.

According to the official site of the Tsonga Center in Lowell, Massachusetts, the Monday May 20 SmackDown Live house show has been canceled due to a scheduling conflict. The show will be taking place at the same time as Monday Night Raw and is likely being canceled so the SmackDown Live stars can appear on Monday Night Raw in Albany, New York. This is the second time such a change has been made this month, as the May 6 SmackDown Live house show was also canceled with only a few days’ notice.

Here’s how it all got started. Check out the beginning of the Wild Card Rule:

Opinion: This is a little much isn’t it? I understand that WWE needs to boost its TV ratings, but they can’t give fans more than three days’ notice that the show won’t be happening? And for what? So the same people who are always coming over via the Wild Card Rule can appear? Maybe things might get a little better if WWE didn’t cram the same people onto the show every week and someone fresh got a chance to do something. But no, the solution must be to take away the product from the fans again and go with more of what hasn’t worked yet.
