They have a target. AEW has changed the wrestling world, as it has given WWE its first serious competition in decades. The two companies have been dealing with the same audience in several areas, but they rarely have any direct competition. Now it seems that WWE is trying to at least have a comparison between the two and it could change the way one of their shows is presented.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is attempting to grow NXT’s audience, partially by way of using main roster stars, such as Judgment Day, Seth Rollins and Rey Mysterio, to increase interest. WWE’s current goal is to increase the 18-34 rating for NXT and raise it closer to AEW Dynamite’s numbers. The interest in that age group is seen as important to take NXT on tour outside of Florida, which has been a goal for future television. There is no word on when that might take place.

Opinion: It’s an idea that makes sense so why not see what they can do with it. If nothing else, the idea of having more main roster stars on NXT is something that is going to draw in extra interest of some kind and that is always a good thing. I’m not sure if that is going to be enough to have NXT catch up to Dynamite, but it is certainly something that shouldn’t do them much harm.
