Get Well Soon: Current WWE Champion Dealing With Legitimate Injury

It’s true. Injuries can be one of the worst things that can happen to a wrestler. You never know when you are going to see one of them take place and there is only so much that can be done to prevent them. One of the few silver linings is that they can occasionally be used as part of a storyline, which seems to be the case with one of the current reigning champion in WWE.

This week on Monday Night Raw, Sami Zayn unsuccessfully challenged Dominik Mysterio for the NXT North American Title. During the match, Zayn’s partner Kevin Owens was attacked by the Judgment Day, resulting in him suffering broken ribs. According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Owens is dealing with a legitimate injury, though it is not clear if it is broken ribs. There is no word on whether or not Owens will miss ring time.

Opinion: Hopefully nothing is too bad here, but if WWE had to acknowledge it on television, things are probably not going so well at the moment. Owens and Zayn are doing well with the Tag Team Titles right not and hopefully the title reign can stay intact. If nothing else, maybe Zayn is able to defend the titles on his own for a bit until Owens can heal, but we’ll have to see where things go.
