It happens to everyone. There are all kinds of injuries that take place in wrestling and some of them are a lot worse. You never know how bad an injury is going to be when it takes place and that can make for some scary moments. Then there are some injuries which build up over time and finally have to be dealt with so someone can continue their career. That was the case with a current champion.

The NWA has hit on some rough times in the last few months as they no longer air Powerrr, but the promotion is still around today, including its champions. Some of those titles go back a very long way and have quite the histories of their own, which make them quite the prestigious championships. Now one of those champions is going to be missing some time after an injury forced her to the operating room.

NWA Women’s Champion Serena Deeb has announced that she has undergone arthroscopic knee surgery and will be out of action for a little while. There is no word on when she had the surgery or how long she will be out of action, only saying she will be “back before you know it.” Deeb has been appearing on AEW programming, including defending her championship on the show.

Deeb is awesome when she is healthy. Check out what she can do at her best:

Road to AEW New Year's Smash Night 2 | Serena Deeb vs Tay Conti NWA Women's World Title | 1/13/21

Did We Crown a New NWA Women's Champion? | AEW Dynamite, 11/18/20

Kilynn King vs Serena Deeb | AEW Dark 9/22/20

Opinion: That’s a shame but hopefully Deeb is back in the ring before too long because she really is one of the best things about AEW at the moment. Deeb can have a good match with anyone and that makes for some rather nice times in the ring. With luck she can be back in time for the NWA relaunch, which wouldn’t be quite the same without one of its champions around.
