According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the current plan is for the Rock vs. Cody Rhodes to main event WrestleMania 41. The Rock’s pitch for the match is People’s Champion vs. WWE Champion, though it is not clear if both belts will be on the line. The Rock pinned Rhodes in a tag match on Night One of WrestleMania 40 before Rhodes wont he title in the main event of Night Two. Rock and Rhodes then spoke the next night on Monday Night Raw where they teased a match together.
They’ve gotten started. Check out Rock and Rhodes so far:
Opinion: I don’t think this is exactly a shocking revelation, as Rock vs. Rhodes was teased before, during and after WrestleMania 40. While it doesn’t exactly leave much drama for Rhodes’ title reign over the next eleven months, the idea of Rock vs. Rhodes one on one does make for an intriguing story. WWE has a long time to get there, but we might be waiting awhile for anything to happen.
