Keep the card growing. We are less than two weeks away from NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver, which is one of the biggest Takeovers that NXT has ever presented. This time around, the show is going to be a two night special for the first time ever. There are some extra spots to fill and luckily NXT has the roster to make it work. The show is going to need some extra matches, some of which were officially announced this week.

One of the bigger stories over the course of the week has been the injury to NXT Tag Team Champion Danny Burch. The main event of last week’s NXT saw Burch land in an awkward way off of a suplex, resulting in a separated shoulder. As a result, Burch and Oney Lorcan were forced to vacate the NXT Tag Team Titles. We need some new champions, and that will take place at Takeover.

Several new matches were announced for Takeover: Stand & Deliver during this week’s edition of NXT.

  • First up is a triple threat match for the vacant NXT Tag Team Titles, featuring MSK vs. the Grizzled Young Veterans vs. Legado Del Fantasma.
  • Second, Walter will defend the United Kingdom Title against Tommaso Ciampa.
  • Finally, there will be a six man gauntlet match on Night One, with the winner challenging Johnny Gargano for the North American Title on Night Two. The six participants will be determined in a battle royal on the March 31 edition of NXT.

It’s a big card. Check out how the matches were set:

Bálor & Kross w/Scarlett vs. Lorcan & Burch – NXT Tag Team Title Match: WWE NXT, March 17, 2021

WALTER decimates Drake Maverick, accepts Tommaso Ciampa’s challenge: WWE NXT, March 24, 2021

William Regal addresses Johnny Gargano and the NXT North American Title: WWE NXT, March 24, 2021

Opinion: This is where NXT shines above so many other promotions. They know how to set up a card in a hurry and that is exactly what they did here. Four matches were announced in the span of two hours and that is going to be a big core of the Takeover cards. I’m curious to see where these matches go and some of them could absolutely steal the show. That is hard to do at Takeover, and that is what makes it so fun.
