That was a surprise. Just about two years ago, All Elite Wrestling held their first event with Double Or Nothing. The event has become their signature show and already has some traditions of its own. One of those is the Casino Battle Royal, which can feature a surprise entrant. That was the case again this year, as a former champion in WWE made their debut.
Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Lio Rush made his AEW debut during the Casino Battle Royal at AEW Double Or Nothing. Rush was the final entrant as the Joker but was eliminated from the match by Matt Hardy. Rush has been wrestling in Major League Wrestling and it is not clear if he has signed a long term deal with AEW. Jungle Boy won the match, earning a future AEW World Title shot.
You might remember Rush. Check out some of his work in the ring:
Opinion: I didn’t have that one coming as Rush is a nice surprise all things considered. I’m not sure how many radars he was on and that is a nice feeling to have. Sometimes it’s ok to thrown out a surprise who isn’t going to lead anywhere and that might be the case with Rush. He is more than talented enough to be a player in AEW though and it could be interesting to see where he goes.
What do you think of Rush? Should he stay with AEW? Let us know in the comments below.
