Not so fast. Back in April, WWE released a host of wrestlers in quite the surprising move. The company let more than two dozen wrestlers go, sending several of them off to either the independent circuit or perhaps to another line of work. One former champion seemed ready to walk away from the ring and even wrestled a retirement match, but maybe not so fast.

WWE’s cruiserweight division has been back in action for a few years now and things have gone up, at least somewhat, in recent years. The division has gone from little more than filler on Monday Night Raw to a featured attraction on NXT. Some of its wrestlers have done quite well, though one of the bigger names was released earlier this year. He went on to heavily tease retirement, but now he is already back.

Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Lio Rush has announced that he is back in the wrestling industry full time and is available for bookings, appearances, signings and more. Rush had teased retiring to work in the music industry full time at GCW Homecoming Night Two on July 26 but never officially announced anything. Rush is 25 years old and wrestled for WWE from 2017-2020.

His time in WWE went fairly well. Check out how Rush did in the ring:

Opinion: I can’t say I’m surprised here in the slightest as Rush is so young but already has a pretty nice resume. There is a huge career waiting for him on the independent circuit if he wants it and apparently he does. Rush seems to have changed his mind about walking away, assuming that was ever his decision in the first place. He can do music at the same time and if this is what he wants to do, good for him.

What do you think of Rush? Will he sign with another big company? Let us know in the comments below.
