What could have been. There are several ways to present a wrestling show and sometimes that involves a mixture of different ideas. Sometimes you need to include something a little out of the ordinary, which may not always be the most well received idea. These are often the most memorable, but this time around the memorable idea never even got off of the ground.

Nostalgia can be a powerful force in wrestling and that will always be the case. With so many wrestlers having come through WWE’s doors over the years, there are always going to be some names that leave an impact. Some of these are memorable for something specifically unique to them, and one of them was almost brought back back for a surprise appearance last year.

In an interview with Comicbook.com, Swoggle revealed that he was flown in to appear in a segment at Backlash 2020 but it was never filmed. Swoggle was going to be part of the Street Profits/Heavy Machinery segment, which turned into a cinematic fight against Akira Tozawa and his ninjas. Bad weather prevented the segment from being filmed and it was never mentioned on television. Swoggle’s most recent WWE appearance was in the 2019 women’s Royal Rumble. He would later appear in AEW and Impact Wrestling later in 2020.

Opinion: That makes all the sense in the world and I could easily see WWE bringing Swoggle in for something that goofy. The segment featured magical powers, some kind of a creature in a trashcan and a bunch of ninjas. Swoggle would have fit in perfectly well and he has long since been a favorite for WWE cameos. I could go for seeing him pop up every now and then, so this is hardly the worst idea.
