Now that’s a signing. NXT is in a unique place as it serves not only as the official developmental program of WWE but also as its own two hour weekly television show. That situation can make things more than a little complicated at times and WWE has had some issues with making the two rosters work together. Now there is going to be a new star crossing over from one to another.
The Royal Rumble is often a way to bring new NXT stars up to the main roster. The show features thirty men and thirty women in a match each and it can be a little difficult to put everything together. One of the best ways is to bring up some stars from NXT and some of them wind up sticking around permanently. Now we are going to see one of those stars as a permanent part of the main roster.
A Rhea Ripley vignette aired this week on Monday Night Raw, announcing that she would be coming to the show soon. There was no date given for Ripley’s debut. Ripley has appeared in the last two Royal Rumbles, finishing as the runner up in the 2021 edition, as well as the Survivor Series last year. She is also a former NXT Women’s Champion and last wrestled in NXT on January 6.
Ripley is a big get. Check out her dominance:
Opinion: I’m rather pleased about the announcement as this is something that has needed to happen for a very long time now. Ripley ran through NXT and there was nothing left for her to do on the show so Monday Night Raw or SmackDown was the only logical step. At the end of the day, Monday Night Raw’s women’s division needs the boost more so I’m all for every bit of this.
