Punk was fired from AEW after a backstage incident at AEW All In, with AEW President Tony Khan announcing the move on an edition of Dynamite. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Punk was “not that upset when he was fired”. While Punk was reportedly not looking to be fired, he was also not upset that it happened. Punk reportedly came to an agreement with WWE the week before Survivor Series.

Opinion: I’m not overly surprised by this as Punk seemed to jump from AEW right back into WWE without much trouble. At the end of the day, Punk did well in AEW to start but then things fell apart in a hurry. I have no idea how things are going to do with Punk long term in WWE but the fact that Punk was apparently so blasé about leaving AEW tells me that things were not exactly going well around there.
