And he’s done. Retirement is a weird concept in wrestling as you never know when you are going to see someone have their last match. While they might not be in the ring for a good while, there is always the chance that they pop back up every so often. You will see some wrestlers announce their retirement from the ring and have it actually stick, which might be the case again here.

According to PWInsider.com, over the weekend, former WWE Tag Team Champion Doug Basham, 52, lost his retirement match to Kal Herro at Great Lakes Championship Wrestling’s Blizzard Brawl event in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Basham is a former two time WWE Tag Team Champion with Danny Basham and was a top star in OVW as part of the WWE developmental program. He only returned to the ring in August 2022 after nearly thirteen years away from the ring.
The Bashams were a good team. Check out what they did together, including one of their best OVW matches:
Opinion: It’s always kind of strange to see someone who has not been around in such a long time announcing that they are finally done with their career. Doug had a very nice run in OVW and a completely acceptable time in WWE but after leaving, his career just kind of went away. That is a shame as he certainly had the talent, but if this is how he wants to go out, then good for him.
What do you think of Doug’s career? How could he have been a bigger star in WWE? Let us know in the comments below.
