Family Thing: AEW Reportedly Signs Second Generation Star

Next generation. There have been all kinds of wrestlers throughout history and some of them come from wrestling families. At the very least, there is a chance that a wrestler’ parents were wrestlers themselves, which can make quite the impact on what the younger wrestlers do. Now we are going to be seeing another wrestler with a famous relative on the big stage.

According to Fightful Select, AEW has signed Tommy Billington, the nephew of the Dynamite Kid, to a contract. This comes after Billington has appeared on AEW programming in losses to Dax Harwood and Konosuke Takeshita. There is said to have also been interest in NXT. It is not clear when Billington will be returning to AEW TV or any details about the length of his contract.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that makes good sense, if nothing else for the name alone. Billington looked good during his limited time in AEW and it makes sense that AEW wants to give him a chance to develop. Hopefully everything works out, as he could wind up being a nice addition to the roster if given the chance to see what he can do over and over.
