What To Expect When Sami Zayn Returns

There’s your next logical step. The spread of the Coronavirus has changed the way the wrestling world works and that is the kind of thing that can change plans for a long time to come. That has certainly been the case with WWE for a long time now as the company has had to make several changes in a hurry. One such change has involved a title and now we know where that is going.

Last week, WWE announced that the Intercontinental Title was vacant due to Sami Zayn’s extended absence. As a result, a tournament was held to crown a new champion. This made perfect sense and is a standard way to resolve such an issue. Zayn was not happy about it as you might have expected, and now we know where things are going to be going next.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, upon his return, Zayn will enter into a program with whomever wins the tournament to become the new Intercontinental Champion. Since the tournament was announced, Zayn has talked about how he does not agree with it and claims to still be the champion. There is no word on when Zayn will return but the tournament is set to conclude on SmackDown at an unspecified date.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that makes a lot of sense and pretty much writes itself. Don’t bother trying to make things more complicated than they already are. Just go with what makes sense here and have the former champion feud with the new one. Zayn never lost the title and there is no reason to not go with this story whenever Zayn is back in the ring.
