It might have been better. There are a lot of angles that come and go in wrestling with some of them having better results than others. You never know what you might see in the big payoff, because wrestling companies, including WWE, are going to be able to come up with some completely out there endings. That was the case with an angle earlier this year, but it was originally going to be completely different, and maybe in a better way.
Back in November 2019, Erick Rowan started carrying around a cage. There was something inside of the cage, but no one but Rowan was allowed to know what it was. Every now and then, Rowan would allow someone to see what it was and they were all terrified of what was going on. Whatever it was would bite anyone who came near it, including Rowan. It became a story where something had to be in there, and eventually it was revealed. Things could have been very, very different.
Rowan, now known as Erick Redbeard, was interviewed by Sportskeeda.com and revealed what was originally to be inside the cage. The original plan was to have a rat or another rodent, which would eventually be killed to show what happened to Rowan when he began loving something. Rowan had a pitch of his own, which would have involved a slightly larger cage, with actress Jyoti Amge inside. Amge is the world’s shortest woman, at a height of 2 foot 1 inch and has appeared on American Horror Story: Freak Show, though nothing ever came of Rowan’s idea. Eventually, a large spider was revealed to be inside the cage.
Rowan had that cage for a long time. Check out what he did with it, and the big reveal:
Opinion: That really was one of the most disappointing endings to a longer story that I can remember in recent years. It really felt like someone was told to come up with something at the last possible second and threw out whatever idea they came up with off the top of their head. You would think they would have had this planned out all the way until the end and then gone with it, but that isn’t how WWE works these days.
What did you think of the idea? How would you have finished it? Let us know in the comments below.
