So that’s who they were. As we came into the 2017 Royal Rumble, it wasn’t clear who would be completing the field. We knew twenty two of the thirty names coming in but it wasn’t clear who would comprise the final eight. Now that “Royal Rumble 2017” has come and gone, we now know who the final eight participants were.

In order of entrance, the final eight were:

Kalisto
Jack Gallagher
Mark Henry
Tye Dillinger
James Ellsworth
Apollo Crews
Enzo Amore
Roman Reigns

Reigns was the big surprise at #30 and the only person to compete earlier in the night and come back for the Royal Rumble. Dillinger was the only NXT callup to make an appearance in the match. Amore had appeared earlier in the night during Big Cass’ entrance but went to the back before the match started.

This wasn’t exactly the strongest field of surprises in the world but at least they got Dillinger at #10. There was no other option for him and it made for a nice moment. I was really surprised at the lack of Samoa Joe but we couldn’t have Henry do a power showdown with Braun Strowman before Big Show did a power showdown with Strowman.

What did you think of the Rumble’s surprises? Who would you have switched out with one of these names? Let us know in the comments below.
