Isn’t that a conflict of interest? There are a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster and it can be difficult to figure out what to do with all of them at times. That is certainly the case again today, which is quite the issue during the busiest and most important time of the WWE year. We are on the Road to WrestleMania 37 and it makes that we have a few stories to tell. Now one person has a story that was written by….himself.

The big story coming out of this weekend’s Royal Rumble was Edge going wire to wire to win his second Royal Rumble. It was quite the return to glory for Edge, who went from the injured list to the main event of WrestleMania 37 in the span of about an hour. That is a heck of a turnaround, but it turns out that there was a rather unique force behind Edge winning the match.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Edge himself pitched the idea of him winning the Royal Rumble to move on to the title match at WrestleMania 37. The original plans of Edge vs. Randy Orton in an I Quit match were scrapped with Edge pinning Orton this week on Monday Night Raw instead. Edge has been a part of the Monday Night Raw creative team since last summer.

This went rather well. Check out what Edge has done since winning the Royal Rumble:

Edge puts Finn Bálor and Pete Dunne on notice: WWE NXT, Feb. 3, 2021

Edge's confrontation with Drew McIntyre ends with a Sheamus Brogue Kick: Raw, Feb. 1, 2021

Edge vs. Randy Orton: Raw, Feb. 1, 2021

Opinion: I’m not sure how well this is one is going to go but at the end of the day, Edge is the kind of star who could make a story like this work. If nothing else, it is nice to see him getting back in the ring and possibly having one more run near the top of the company. With his history of injuries, you never know how long he might have left in the ring so it is great to see him getting to do something like this.
