It happens. Professional wrestling is one of the most complicated forms of entertainment, as not only is it taking place live, but it is also something that has to be convincing. Every so often you are going to see something that doesn’t go as planned and that can cause some issues. That seemed to be the case over the weekend and now we know a bit more about what happened.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He’s In: Impressive Detail On Jacob Fatu At WWE Money In The Bank
Over the weekend at WWE Money In The Bank, Seth Rollins challenged Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship. At one point in the match, Rollins covered Priest for two, though the count was paused without Priest kicking out. According to Fightful Select, backstage sources are saying there is no heat on either Priest or referee Rod Zapata, as times have changed in WWE and previous reactions would not be the same today.
Had the pinfall been counted, Priest would have lost the title and been forced out of the Judgment Day, while the entire rest of the segment, including Drew McIntyre’s cash-in and CM Punk’s interference, would have been made more complicated. It is described as “an unfortunate situation”, which is not something that happens often with Priest.
It was messy. Check out the match and the fallout:
Opinion: This seems like a situation where the end result could have been a lot worse had the fall gone down, as it would kick of something of a domino effect. Thankfully everything worked out well enough and nothing was too terrible, as it could have been so much worse. These kinds of things happen occasionally and can cause all kinds of problems if they are not handled correctly.
