Maybe next time. We are done with WrestleMania 39 and that means it is time to figure out something new for a lot of wrestlers. With the most important event of the year all wrapped up, there are some fresh stories to tell and the first stop for those stories is going to be in Puerto Rico at Backlash. However, one rather important name will not be around for the show.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns is not expected to wrestle at Backlash. There is no word on when Reigns will wrestle next but he is reportedly scheduled for unspecified future major events. Reigns successfully defended his title against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39. Backlash takes place on May 6.

Opinion: This isn’t the biggest surprise as Reigns doesn’t really have a major challenger at the moment and Rhodes seems ready to face Brock Lesnar. You don’t need to have the title on the line at every event and Backlash feels like the kind of event that could see the champion getting a night off. There’s nothing wrong with that and we should be in for a good show no matter what.
