It doesn’t work for everyone. The NXT Championship has become one of the most important titles in the WWE landscape in a hurry. The championship was only established less than nine years ago but a who’s who of talent has held the title. It was quite the symbol of excellence in wrestling and holding the title suggested that great things were ahead. That is not always the case though and that is the case twice at once now.
There have been eighteen wrestlers to hold the NXT Title over the years in twenty one different reigns. Many of them have gone on to main roster success with championship reigns higher up and several more of them could go on to such glory in the future. That is not true of everyone though and it could make for some pretty bad news for a pair of former champions.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Vince McMahon sees nothing in either Aleister Black or Andrade. Paul Heyman was their major backer but Heyman has no power in WWE at the moment, meaning there is no one to push for them backstage. Neither Black nor Andrade have wrestled since October and there is nothing to indicate that either is injured. There is nothing to suggest they will be back on television anytime soon.
You might not remember them. Check out a bit of both of them in the ring:
Opinion: This is one of those things I will never understand as WWE signs all of these people, does something with them, and then just drops them overnight. I know there is more to it than that with the backstage situations, but it is rather annoying to see the carpet pulled out from someone, especially when they were both starting to click. It’s not like thing are great in WWE at the moment, so maybe trying something fresh might be a good idea.
