When worlds collide. Whether you like it or not, Disney is the biggest entertainment company in the world and nothing is really even close. They own almost every top franchise today and several of the biggest of all time. That makes their stamp of approval all the more valuable and now they are putting some of their focus on the world of wrestling. Or at least something close to it.
Wrestling does not have the best history when it comes to depictions on television. Several shows have not presented it in the best light as wrestling is often treated as a comedy performance rather than something serious. This isn’t always the case, and hopefully it is not what takes place when Disney airs a wrestling edition of one of its funnier animated shows.
It could be interesting. Check out the trailer for the show:
On Saturday, a new episode of DuckTales aired on Disney XD and featured a wrestling plot. During the show, the main characters are forced to wrestle various champions from Valhalla in an attempt to save the universe. The episode, entitled The Rumble For Ragnarok, debuted on Saturday and will be reaired in the upcoming days. This comes after a new Disney series centered around wrestling was announced in December.
Opinion: You never know what you are going to get when it comes to a wrestling themed episode in any TV series, let alone an animated show. Disney can be hit and miss when it comes to something like this and hopefully it treats wrestling as something above a complete joke. I know it’s going to be played for comedy on a show like this, but there are good and bad ways to do so.
