There’s more to it than that. A return in wrestling can be one of the most interesting things to see, as it means something new is happening. Someone showing up after a long time away can be a game changer with a new character being added into the mix. That took place again this week on Monday Night Raw and it turns out that there were some interesting circumstances behind the scenes.

Johnny Gargano made his surprise return to WWE this week on Monday Night Raw following a nine month hiatus. According to Fightful Select, Gargano’s return was a surprise to several backstage as he was not listed on the rundown for the show. Most people at the show found out about Gargano’s return as he walked to the entrance. WWE had hoped to re-sign Gargano but had been respecting his request for time off due to the birth of his son. Triple H’s return to power also signaled a better chance for Gargano’s return.

Opinion: I was surprised by Gargano’s return and that is the feeling they were shooting for with what happened. Gargano is someone who dominated NXT and then never got a chance on the main roster. There is every chance that he is a flop, but what matters is that he is going to get a shot. WWE has been in serious need of some fresh blood on the main roster for a long time now and if Gargano can help with that problem, good for him and us.

What did you think of Gargano’s return? How will he do on the main roster? Let us know in the comments below.
