And new! Titles are some of the most important aspects of any wrestling promotion as they often identify the bigger names in the promotion. A wrestler winning a title can be a springboard up the ladder into a new level, which opens the door for them to do something new. One of the more prominent WWE titles changed hands this week, with a former champion getting his belt back.

This weekend at WWE Survivor Series, Shinsuke Nakamura defeated LA Knight to win the United States Title. Nakamura returned to WWE television earlier in November after about seven months away, attacking Knight and jumping back into the title picture. The win makes Nakamura a three time champion and marks his first time with the title since 2019 when he held it for two days.

Opinion: This is something that kind of came out of nowhere but it makes the most sense. Nakamura coming back after such a lengthy absence and then losing his first big match would have been a misstep and thankfully WWE didn’t go in that direction. I’m not sure where this leaves Knight, but there is a good chance that these two are not done with each other just yet.
