All hands on deck. NXT has been around for a good while now and has mainly been seen as the project of Triple H, who has led the promotion from little more than a weekly internet show to a near juggernaut and the third brand in WWE. That is a heck of an accomplishment and absolutely something worth bragging about. It also makes Triple H someone worth listening to, which was the case at this week’s television taping.
As of April 8, the Wednesday Night Wars will have come to an end. The head to head battles between NXT and AEW Dynamite were mostly one sided in Dynamite’s favor, but there is a good bit more to WWE than just NXT. They have more than a few more options, including moving over to Tuesday nights. That is the kind of thing that is worth talking about, which is what happened earlier this week.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, NXT held a “team meeting” at this week’s television taping, including a discussion about how far NXT has come since its inception. AEW was also discussed, as they were said to have come to NXT’s night. The future prospects were also discussed, including the benefits of having the show air the night after Monday Night Raw and not having direct competition to worry about. This is said to be the opposite of what was said when AEW’s initial move to Wednesdays was announced eighteen months ago. NXT’s first show on Tuesdays will take place on April 13.
The show has been a big deal on Wednesdays. Check out some of their time there:
Opinion: This is a weird situation for NXT, as they did lose almost every head to head battle against Dynamite, but at the end of the day they are still going to be in a very similar situation without head to head competition. It is not the best look, but it is hardly NXT’s complete destruction either. I can understand some people being a bit skeptical about the message, but this should be a good thing for both shows.
