Less and less? WWE presents all kinds of events every single year, many of which are not televised. Those are the kind o shows where you can get some different kinds of matches and presentations, with wrestlers having a lot more freedom while letting them get some reps in the ring. According to F4WOnline.com, TKO COO Mark Shapiro spoke at the UBS Global Media and Communication Conference, where he said WWE was considering reducing their number of live events among other cost cutting measures. Shapiro said that live events could help bring the product to smaller areas, but “from a margin perspective, they’re dilutive”. There is no word on how many events WWE would still be running should the events be cut down. Another area where TKO may plan to save cost is in productions, though it is not clear how that would work.
WWE does some live events. Check out how they have been over the years:
Opinion: I can see this as something that makes sense, as WWE has not been doing great with a lot of live events in recent years. While it makes sense to cut the costs, there are some benefits to having live events that don’t exactly show up in a budget. Hopefully WWE can find a nice balance because there are several good points to having more events, but TKO does not want to bleed money.
