That could have gone somewhere. The spread of the Coronavirus has changed the way the world works and that is going to be the case for a long time to come. There are only so many things that can be done during the time being and one of the interesting questions is what could have happened had the pandemic not started. We now know one of the bigger things put on hold.
AEW has hit the ground running in a way that a wrestling promotion has not done in a very long time. With so many things going on at such a fast rate, it is amazing to realize that the company is only about a year old. That means they have a lot of things that still need doing and before the pandemic, it was almost time to start up something that could have been rather interesting.
AEW commentator Jim Ross appeared on Wrestling Observer Live and revealed that AEW was planning to run live events before the pandemic changed the plans. There is no word on how many shows the company was going to run or where they would have been taking place. At the moment, AEW only runs Dark and Dynamite on a weekly basis. It is not clear when they would be able to begin running live events as most areas are not allowing fans to gather together.
The fans are missing out. Check out what they might be seeing at a live event:
Opinion: This is something that sounds rather interesting and hopefully it happens in the near future. AEW is going to have to run live events at some point and it is a good sign that they were ready to start them up so soon. One thing to remember is just how young the roster is. As Ross said in the interview, you need to give them ring time in front of a crowd for the sake of experience, and that isn’t going to be the case with just TV tapings.
