It’s a scary feeling. Earlier this year, WWE was sold to Endeavor, the parent company of UFC. WWE and UFC are expected to merge later this year, with the deal reportedly being finalized at some point in September. That kind of thing can result in all kinds of changes, but there might be some problems that you will not see taking place in front of the cameras. They still have consequences though and some people might be hurt.

According to PWInsider.com by way of Wrestlingnews.co, there is a sense of “gloom and doom” behind the scenes in WWE as several backstage workers are worried about their jobs. With the merger looming, there is a fear that several non-wrestling or in front of the camera roles will be eliminated. UFC already has its own staff for issues such as marketing, travel etc., meaning there is a fear that the WWE counterparts are not needed. There is no word on when any potential firings or layoffs could take place.

Opinion: Unfortunately there is not much that can be done to avoid this kind of situation and the problem does probably seem likely. At the end of the day, Endeavor is going to try to cut down on costs wherever they can and the in office people are going to be doubling up with some of those roles. It isn’t good to see, and right now it seems that there is very little to avoid what is likely coming.
What do you think of the idea? Will Endeavor release wrestlers as well? Let us know in the comments below.
