The steps continue. There have been several stories throughout the wrestling world over the last year, with one of the most detailed being the saga of CM Punk’s AEW status. Punk was indefinitely suspended following his roll in the All Out backstage brawl while also recovering from a torn tricep. The question became when or if Punk would return to AEW and now we might have a better idea of where things are going.

In recent weeks, Punk has been reportedly attempting to return to AEW though it is not clear how much progress has been made. According to Fightful Select, Punk is scheduled to have a meeting with Chris Jericho to see if the two can work together. Jericho has been heavily critical of Punk, including calling him a cancer to the locker room. There are also tentative plans for Punk to return at or around the June 21 edition of Dynamite in Punk’s hometown of Chicago, though nothing has been finalized.

Punk and Jericho do have history. Check out their time in AEW, plus a match between them in WWE:

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that makes things more interesting, as Punk’s return could actually happen. The show where he might be returning is in just over two months and that could make for a fascinating moment. I’m curious to see how Punk could do should he return to AEW, but in this case it is going to depend on how all of the backstage drama can go.
