That would have been a bad Rusev Day. Wrestling audiences are predictable in a way. No matter what they are being presented with on television, there will always be a group of fans who know what they want and cheer for them as a result. Sometimes these wrestlers are pushed (ala Daniel Bryan) and sometimes they aren’t as successful (ala Zack Ryder) but sometimes they wind up in the middle. That’s the case with someone who got closer to losing their job than anyone knew.

The new year is an interesting time for a lot of people and it was made even bigger by the fact that this year’s marked the end of a decade. It offers people a chance to look back and reflect on things that they might have forgotten about and see what might be coming for all of them. Some of these things are detailed that have never been revealed, with one of them showing how close we came to losing a top talent.

In light of the new year, Rusev posted a message on Twitter talking about how the previous ten years have gone for him. This includes events like signing with WWE, various injuries, appearing at WrestleMania 31 in a tank and getting married. Also included in the tweet was a mention of being told to get better in sixty days or get fired in 2013. While the specific time frame is not given, Rusev spent spent the first five months of 2013 recovering from a neck injury and then the next five months teaming with Scott Dawson. His on-screen partnership with Lana began in November and he was on the main roster in April 2014.

Rusev has come a long way. Check him out in 2014 and more recent times:

Opinion: This is one of those situations where it turns out to be a big relief to a problem that we didn’t know about in the first place. That can make things a lot more interesting as well as a sigh of relief, as Rusev has turned into one of the more entertaining people on the main roster. I’m glad he’s sticking around as he belongs in WWE with some of the best talent in the world.

What is next for Rusev? Will he ever be World Champion? Let us know in the comments below.
