Clip Released From Shawn Michaels’ New Movie

Hopefully he doesn’t stop the picture show. Shawn Michaels has been retired from WWE since 2010 and now needs something to keep him busy. Apparently that seems to be acting for the time being, as Michaels will be appearing in the upcoming Christian based film The Resurrection of Gavin Stone.

The movie, opening January 20, is about a troubled actor (Gavin Stone) who has fallen on hard times and is left acting in a church play. Michaels plays a member of the church who acts as a mentor to Stone, who has to pretend to be a Christian to appear in the play. Michaels has appeared in some small TV roles before but this is by far his biggest role as an actor.

Wrestlers acting is such a hit or miss deal that there’s almost no way to guess how this is going to go. I’ve always liked Roddy Piper’s line about wrestlers acting: “When I was a wrestler they said I was just acting. When I’m acting, they say I’m just a wrestler.” Acting on a wrestling show is completely different than acting in a film but maybe Michaels can pull it off.
